ANDERS MOLLES
Anders’ day consists of troubleshooting many pieces of complex machinery. Asked how to create any three-dimensional object, he will methodically answer with a step-by-step analysis. Anders’ time at FuseMaker Space began as a volunteer, and he learned as he went until his current AmeriCorps Vista STEAM internship opened. Now, Anders functions as an indispensable part of the FuseMakers’ Space team. From CNC routing and 3D printing to welding and screen printing, the space has the technology to make it. Above the office door is a sleek wood panel with the quote, “Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere." Einstein said it, and yes, they made it.
The FuseMaker Space is open to not only students enrolled in classes at Central New Mexico Community College (CNM), actually, it is open mostly to community members. Their website reads that they, “believe in fostering the startup spirit in Albuquerque’s Innovation District by creating jobs and supporting businesses in the downtown community.” All a community member would need to do is become a member and bring in a 3D drawing file, and then they would be able to make it. In this logic, people like Anders would take you from A to B while the community member provided the imagination. Ingenuity’s FuseMaker Space hopes to bolster the local economy through entrepreneurship of all ages. AmeriCorps' partnership with STEAM provides classes for local youth to stimulate growth and generate new ideas. FabLabs like FuseMaker Space provide the resources for generating positive community development similarly to how the access to these tools can facilitate the means of making not only beautiful but also functional pieces of technology and art.
